Eventually, through an extraordinary series of unforgettably nasty and undeservedly violent homeward events, he escapes and is forced to confront his fears and reality. Reality becomes bent around Bubby's innocent and pantomimic experience with the world around him. He is both taken in to be cared for, and abused, always with guileless acceptance of the innate harshness of the world by our protagonist. He knows no judgment, and has nothing to measure his experiences to. Eventually, for lack of a better explanation, he becomes a rock star cult hero. Bubby is attributed with mastery of art and magnetism of which he knows nothing, but which is sucked up by a seething popular audience. The popular turn in his fortunes still don't affect him at all, and he wanders around his world with the gaping comprehension of no more than a mirror. Human love and emotion eventually find him, and he grasps this in a very unconventional way which would find the "normal" man in the loony bin or prison, Bubby finds fulfillment, love, and redemption. Honestly, Bad Boy Bubby is the most disturbing feel good film I've ever seen. Further, the first 30 minutes are a great litmus test of whether or not your friend/lover/film buff can handle your appreciation for twisted art. Truly awesome
