Video and Picture Quality

I'm looking for some knowledge, hopefully a techie out there can help me.

If I save a picture that is supposed to be x4000 how do I know that the picture simply hasn't been stretched to that size from a smaller version? I've been downloading a girls pic sets (thats all she mainly does) and most of them were in the 50mb range. I found some sets that were only 10mb with the same number of pics and same size pictures. How do I determine if the pics are actually HQ?

Basically the same question goes for videos. Also what are ideal sizes for dvd rips (non hd)? Thanks!!

If a small picture has been greatly increased in size, it won't look too good when you zoom into it. If the picture is legitimately 4000 pixels, you literally should be able to zoom into the models eyes and see very few pixels.

For example:

Why not just post a couple of the pictures you are talking about and let us check them out for you?
